Last Year my Mum was diagnosed with Mesothelioma. I had heard this name many times while working in the Qld Cancer Registry. It was the dreaded cancer which had a special filing cabinet. Almost everyone always died. So when I heard that Mum had it, I could only think the worst. Since her diagnosis she has had biopsies, CT scans and started Chemotherapy to see if it will atleast give her a few extra months. Mum is trying to be positive, live as healthy as she can and enjoy spending time with friends and family. This has been made easier since my brother Andrew and his family (Callie, Thomas and Jack) have moved out here. We have definitely enjoyed having them live closer, even in these sad circumstances. Each time there is a family event, you wonder if it is going to be Mums last. Last birthday, last baptism... Well we don't know, but my hope is to spend as much time with my mum over this time and cherish those moments.
