Ward Camp

Well after all the years of experience that Dan and I have had camping, it's hard to believe we have never taken our kids camping. But the Rochedale Ward Camp came along - and I took up the challenge. Dan didn't have any time off, so the kids and I set off for Flannagans Reserve. (about 1.25 hours drive away) We camped next to the Say family and they were kind enough to share their tarp shelter with us, and a few other treats. We managed to put the tent up, blow up the air mattress (it self inflates) and set Dad's gazebo up. (it took longer than the tent and 3 men to help!) The days were filled with nice food, wading in the rocky creek, learning from organised workshops (they were on damper cooking, car maintenance, 72 hour packs & diabetes awareness), playing cards, watching wildlife and just hanging around and having fun. I hosted the Trivia night - which went well, and Lachlan and Eryn participted in the Talent night. Dan also came up to visit on the last night to help cook dinner. He did intended to spend the night on the double airbed with the 3 other children - but Lachlan came down with croup and Dan volunteered to drive him home to his warm bed. (I secretly think he was glad not to have to sleep under those cramped conditions that night) We enjoyed our time, and packed up - just in time to arrive at McDonalds for Ethans 4th birthday, conference videos and a good nights sleep. What a busy weekend.
