At the kids new school, the 'Easter Hat Parade' is a big deal. They don't just leave it to the younger grades like our last school. All the way up to Year 6 have to participate. This was much to Lachlans disgust, as he believes he is past childish things, like marching around with an Easter Hat on his head. Despite this, we all prepared made the hats (very basic though) and we went to watch the parade. They all marched around to different songs for each year level. Morgans grade even sung a wonderful song entitled 'Aussie Easter OiOiOi'. It got a little painful after hearing it in the car continually. So I asked Morgan why there was no mention of Jesus in her Easter song. To which she replied " Oh, we don't do the Jesus Easter at our school". Oh, okay. Hopefully we can do some of our own Easter celebrations at home before that weekend, considering the kids are now on school holidays and we have a few weeks before then.
Eryn on the other hand has had a very religious Easter experience at school. Thankfully she is not isolated because she isn't Catholic, but is able to learn a lot about another religion and is in a very caring environment. Interestingly enough, her Catholic Studies teacher finds it interesting that she is a member of the Church, and they have had some very positive discussions about her beliefs.
