USA Trip - Upstate New York

We hired a car and eventually made our way out of New York. (We had conflicting maps, it was dark and we were driving on the wrong side of the road!) The scenery for our drive was beautiful. The changing Autumn leaves of Pennsylvania and NY were fantastic. We visited the site of the Restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood in Harmony Pennsylvania, (even walked through the mud down to the the banks of the Susquehanna)visited the home of Peter Whitmer - which is where the LDS Church was officially organised on 6 April 1830, (there was such a lovely peace about that home) then drove through some fantastic towns in the Fingerlake District. The town of Skaneateles was beautiful. Then we made it (amidst Morgans impatience)to Palmyra. The town is small in size - but I really liked it. There we visited the Smith homes, the Palmyra Temple, the Sacred Grove, the Hill Cumorah and visitors center - where we saw the movie ' Joseph Smith - Prophet of the Restoration', the Grandin Press Building where the Book of Mormon was published and then we ate at some not so great restarants. (Palmyra's selection is limited!) The highlights for me were the fact that I actually drove around the city (there is just two main roads!), a session in the Temple and the simplicity of the Smith homes and the quiet of the Sacred Grove. The picture of the window is taken from the Smiths A Frame (or larger home) in Palmyra. I like it because I can imagine Lucy or Emma Smith looking out it (while doing the dishes) and thinking about the events of their day!
