An Uplifting Weekend

Well the month of October has been unusually wet and cold for this part of the world. It has poured and poured and I haven't even dipped one foot into the beautiful pool in our backyard.

This weekend we were able to attend the baptism of my nephew. He kindly invited me to speak at his baptism on Faith, Repentance and Baptism. I am usually organised for these things with the talk written out word for word and even timed. But this was different. I was running late and only managed to jot a few dot points down. It was probably the first time (since I can remember that I just spoke from my head and not the paper) I appreciated the opportunity to share my testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The weekend was also full of more sick children. Lachlan and Eryn eventually got the virus that the younger two had, but it behaved very differently. Causing both of them to pass out, for no reason and at different times. Very scary!

Admist it all, we were able to watch and listen to the latest session of General Conference. Having an Ipod really came in handy as we listened while we cleaned, sorted, and hung out together. I really enjoyed lots of talks, but especially the one where President Monson talks about the consequenses of our choices. I liked it when he said:

"Let us not find ourselves as indecisive as is Alice in Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. You will remember that she comes to a crossroads with two paths before her, each stretching onward but in opposite directions. She is confronted by the Cheshire cat, of whom Alice asks, “Which path shall I follow?”
The cat answers, “That depends where you want to go. If you do not know where you want to go, it doesn’t matter which path you take.” Unlike Alice, we all know where we want to go, and it does matter which way we go, for by choosing our path, we choose our destination."

After a great weekend, it only gets better, because my Mum and Dad return from their 5 week holiday.

That's a great shot of the pool.

BTW, I was interested to see you quote from President Monson's talk... during the Priesthood Session! :)
